J-Hope’s Hope On The Street: A Fashion Inspiration

A Return to Street Dance Roots But Style is Star

My feelings towards J-Hope is one of such soulful regard for his aesthetic. At every turn of his rising stardom, his style–intrinsic to him–is something that is so lit within. He doesn’t simply wear clothing for a performance or photoshoot. He achieves an aesthetic and style that is the essence of him. And I don’t mean what he wears; I mean how he wears what he wears. Many can and do buy expensive pieces of clothing. But not everyone has style. J-Hope IS style.

One of my values is the strong need to be surrounded by beauty in style and fashion. I find J-Hope a kindred spirit in that regard. And I am so taken with the Hope On The Street series. His undeniable talent, coupled with unrelenting hard work, strong sense of self, stirring expressiveness, and return to the roots of street dance, is inspiring to behold.

But DAAAAAAAMN, the man has so much style he has me spiraling deep into GOAT looking for pieces I see him wearing on the series.

A pause to admire:

Hope on the Street: Season 1, Episode 2 – I Wonder

Netizens are ablaze about this suit and the fit. But take a closer look at a detail that is perfection:

The headscarf under the hat. That detail is precisely that. DETAIL. A kind that subtly adds to his je ne sais quoi.

Hope on the Street: Season 1, Episode 3 – Lock, Unlock

Dear Lord Almighty. Can we just?!! That Louis Vuitton cap and yellow Nike puffer have taken me down a spiral of take-no-prisoners-consumerism. And since beauty attracts beauty, let’s talk about the dude’s harlequin pattern puffer with magenta pants, orange hoody, and cap. These fits have me so wound up. I also enjoyed this episode because I have a soft spot for the pop and lock dance style.

And then there’s this dude:

The Supreme Earflap 6-panel checkerboard hotness. And the glasses! I truly love it all.

Moving on:

Hope on the Street: Season 1, Episode 4 – I Don’t Know

Okay, what can this man not do with head coverings? How does he make a baseball cap shrouded in a tasseled neck scarf look like a… thing? I’m about to do this and wear this look at my son’s next track meet. Also, the on-location Paris street steps with Masego’s “Favorite Tings” is blissfully affecting me.

Last but not least:

I’ve been stalking the McDonald’s x Cactus Plant Flea Market sweatshirt for a while now, so I now know in my delusional heart of hearts that J-Hope and I are indeed kindred spirits.
